Trade plays an important role in creating vibrant environments, jobs and safe meeting places. Boden has now qualified as one of 15 municipalities in Sweden that have a chance to become Sweden’s best retail municipality in 2026, an award presented by the Swedish Trade Federation.

– Sweden’s best retail municipality is obviously about celebrating those who do a good job, but above all to show how a skilled retail municipality works. With this award, we want to inspire more municipalities to invest in trade and develop vibrant and safe cities, communities and rural areas where people want to be. Congratulations to Boden, which has the chance to win,” says Maud Olofsson, chair of the jury.

Together with Haparanda, Lycksele, Umeå and Östersund, Boden is one of five municipalities in Norrland to make it all the way to the top 15 list. Boden’s strengths as a commercial municipality are above all a good business climate for commercial entrepreneurs.

– This shows what we can achieve together. Through Boden Together, we have a platform where the trade, business, property owners and the municipality work together to develop trade in Boden and create vibrant environments,” says Michaela Strömberg, business developer at Boden Business Park.

About the award Sweden’s best retail municipality
With this award, the Swedish Trade Federation wants to highlight the role of municipalities in creating a strong and sustainable retail sector throughout the country. The assessment is based on a national ranking of all municipalities, followed by an in-depth analysis of the best placed in each part of the country.

Three finalists will be selected in August and the winner will be announced at the Retail Awards on November 12.
