The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise today presented its annual ranking of the business climate in Sweden’s 290 municipalities. Boden is ranked 62nd nationally – second best in Norrbotten, where Älvsbyn now tops.
– I would like to start by congratulating Älvsbyn on a successful work and see that both we in Boden and the other Norrbotten municipalities have a lot to learn from Älvsbyn’s journey of change so that we jointly reverse the downward trend. It feels particularly important now that we in Norrbotten are attractive when it comes to business establishments, given the polarization between north and south that occurs in the social debate, says Thomas Fägerman, CEO of Boden Business Park.
A continuing challenge is the availability of relevant skills, where Boden has dropped 29 places.
– This is one of our biggest challenges, as we currently lack housing to accommodate new residents who will strengthen our business community and public services. We really need to take action to meet the housing need,” says Thomas Fägerman.
Every year, the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise conducts a comprehensive survey in which over 30,000 companies are asked to assess what it is like to run a business in their respective municipalities. The results of the survey are combined with five statistical factors to create a ranking that compares the business climate in Sweden’s 290 municipalities.
