Over 800 people will lose their jobs at Northvolt in Skellefteå. In addition, probationary positions have been terminated and jobs by subcontractors have been canceled. If you need to recruit, there is a chance to meet candidates in Skellefteå in November.

Northvolt’s challenges mean that a large number of people with skills in demand are looking for new jobs. In addition to the more than 800 people laid off from the battery factory, there are people from subcontractors, consultants, people on short-term employment and more.

Skellefteå municipality, Employmentmediation and Northvolt are holding four major physical recruitment events in Skellefteå to which employers and other stakeholders are invited. The events are open to all job seekers, not just those working at Northvolt. Over 600 people have registered for the first event. “It is important for all of us that the skills that people have remain and that those who have chosen to move to northern Sweden are given the opportunity to stay and continue to thrive.

Brief info about the candidates:

• 90 percent have post-secondary education
• About 20% are from Sweden, 10% from the rest of Europe and about 70% from outside the EU.
• 75% state that they know Swedish at a basic level.
• Candidates have experience in almost every profession and are looking for new career opportunities in all fields. The most sought-after fields are engineering, computer/IT, installation/maintenance/operations, construction, administration/finance/legal.

The dates for these events are October 25 (fully booked), November 4, November 18 and November 19.
