Future of telecom industry secured from Boden

Arctic Mobile establishes itself in Boden and takes the lead in backup power for the telecom industry. With innovative solutions and a focus on crisis preparedness, the company is investing in long-term business.

Arctic Mobile, a leading backup power company in Sweden, ensures that telecom facilities retain power in the event of a power outage, thereby securing both communications and crisis preparedness.

“We have created the best product in Europe for the Swedish market,” says Jimmy Stenman, CEO of Arctic Mobile.

The company’s success is based on a deep understanding of market needs. The company started with a focus on telecom tower and site construction, but Jimmy Stenman quickly realized that the slow pace of infrastructure development was limiting growth and making it difficult to retain skilled staff. This led to a change in focus – from mast building to specialized solutions for backup power.

“The uniqueness of telecoms is not size or power, but the large number of unmanned sites. This requires sophisticated management, and we have solved that whole process with our knowledge and experience.”

Each generator is built and customized according to the customer’s specific needs, such as location, engine power and technology. He shows an example of a generator that has been in operation for 500 hours over five years.

“It may not sound like much, but on one occasion it was in operation for 450 hours straight. That machine really made a difference.”

Expanding and adapting to market needs

Since 2019, Arctic Mobile has delivered over 150 backup power plants in Sweden and also opened a factory in Germany that manufactures customized generators for the Swedish climate and market needs. Arctic Mobile’s solutions are monitored in real time, allowing the company to schedule maintenance and component replacements when they are needed, instead of following fixed service intervals.

Despite the possibility of expanding into other markets, Jimmy Stenman insists that the company will focus on the telecoms sector.

“We have no ambition to expand beyond the telecoms market. We prioritize long-term quality and providing our loyal customers with the best solutions.”

The company has recently moved back to Boden after operating elsewhere, building new facilities on Hydrogränd, just outside the city center. Although Boden is the 36-year-old’s hometown, the move back was not obvious.

“When I left Boden, I was skeptical about the city’s future and business climate, but today I see a clear belief in the future and energy, both among businesses and residents.”

Local engagement and cooperation

One example of Arctic Mobile’s local commitment is the collaboration with Bodens Energi. When they heard that their business neighbor needed backup power, Arctic Mobile was quickly on site with a customized solution.

“It was a special case, but it feels very good to be able to help locally. Being a backup power company and being able to tailor solutions for a power company that is basically across the street is a real strength,” says Jimmy Stenman.

Arctic Mobile’s choice to establish itself in Boden shows the city’s attractiveness for future-oriented companies with long-term ambitions. The entrepreneur highlights the municipality’s support as crucial to the choice of location.

“The municipality has been incredibly helpful from the start to make sure we can run our business in the best possible way. It has felt genuine and it’s an attitude I like.”

Boden was recently named the municipality with the best business climate in Norrbotten – for the fourth year in a row. This no longer surprises Jimmy Stenman, who sees Boden as a place where innovation and long-term business thrive.

“There’s a definite buzz here in Boden now, from shops to suppliers and people I meet in town. It feels really exciting and good to be back.”
