How is music created that reacts to what happens in a game? In this hands-on presentation, you’ll get an introduction to FMOD, a powerful middleware tool for adaptive game music, commonly used with Unity and Unreal.
The talk is aimed at both game developers with no musical background and musicians/composers who are curious about game development. We’ll explore inspiring examples from games such as Paper Mario, Banjo Kazooie, and Celeste, followed by a live FMOD demo. You’ll learn the basics of horizontal and vertical events, how they’re used to build and shift mood, and how the music responds in a Unity example game. No prior knowledge required, just curiosity!
The talk will take place in the cinema in the Studion building.
