If we\u2019re building with renewables, why are we still letting the fear of consumption dictate our choices? At Bodenxt Talks, Per Langer, CEO of Polar Energy, called for a shift in perspective: from holding back to boldly building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What happens when we stop viewing energy as a scarce resource \u2013 and start seeing it as a key to progress? That was the core of Per Langer\u2019s message as he took the stage and addressed the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe shouldn\u2019t waste energy. But we also need to stop thinking the solution lies in doing less. It\u2019s about doing more \u2013 using the right methods and the right technology,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As CEO of Polar Energy, Per Langer sees the energy system as an enabler rather than an obstacle. According to him, it is crucial for addressing societal challenges such as water supply, food production, and green industrial development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the key points he emphasized was the need to move away from treating energy saving as a moral obligation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to stop moralizing how people use energy. There\u2019s no point in shaming someone for taking a 20-minute shower. If we build on renewable sources, energy itself isn\u2019t the problem \u2013 it\u2019s how we use it that matters,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The technology and potential are already here. What\u2019s lacking, Langer argued, are updated regulations and the political will to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re ready. But unless we decide to do things differently, nothing will change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dialogue is the better system<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Another key message was the importance of open conversations. Bringing different actors together and exchanging perspectives \u2013 even when things are difficult \u2013 is necessary to create legitimacy and long-term decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf we don\u2019t have the conversation, power ends up in the hands of a few \u2013 and that leads to elitism. Sure, it can be harder and take longer. But the easy way isn\u2019t always the right way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Langer also pointed to northern Sweden\u2019s unique position in the transition. Here, innovation is embraced \u2013 not feared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the mindset we need more of across Sweden,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Energy as a security issue<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Among the other speakers was Julian Wieczorkiewicz, Policy Officer at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. He described how energy is becoming an increasingly vital part of the European security landscape. Redundancy, control over energy sources, and regional resilience were all identified as key pillars. Wieczorkiewicz also stressed the importance of understanding who ultimately holds the switch \u2013 and how that affects everything from national preparedness to industrial development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program brought together a wide range of voices. In addition to Langer and Wieczorkiewicz, speakers included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Municipal representatives from Boden, G\u00e4llivare and Lule\u00e5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Panel discussions, keynotes and informal networking came together in a program that reflected the complexity of energy \u2013 from infrastructure and innovation to governance and global dynamics.<\/p>\n\n\n\nTorbj\u00f6rn Fredriksson, Swedish Armed Forces, Tobhias Wikstr\u00f6m, moderator, and Julian Wieczorkiewicz, NATO.<\/em><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
