This week the <\/strong>Norrbotten’s regional winners in the Minecraft School Hackathon. For <\/strong>Sjuln\u00e4sskolan 5b from Pite\u00e5 now awaits the national final. In Norrbotten, Boden Business Park is the financier together with Sparbanken Nord.<\/strong>– I can’t help but be impressed by the work we saw<\/strong>says Hanna M\u00fcller, business developer at Boden Business Park, who was on the jury.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The School Hackathon is a community development competition using Minecraft Education as a teaching tool for students in grade 6. Here, participants have learned about societal challenges in an innovative way. For eight weeks, students have been given a class assignment to build a shared world based on a specific theme.<\/p>\n\n

Last year, the project was carried out as a pilot in the municipality of Boden, this year 39 classes from Arvidsjaur, Boden, G\u00e4llivare, Lule\u00e5 and Pite\u00e5 participated. The winner was Sjuln\u00e4sskolan 5b from Pite\u00e5. Second place went to Sjuln\u00e4sskolan 5a in Pite\u00e5 and third place to Mariaskolan 5a in G\u00e4llivare. Now the national final awaits on 6 December, where the winning classes from each county will face each other.<\/p>\n\n

The concept was developed by Ung F\u00f6retagsamhet V\u00e4sterbotten, Technichus Science Center and Bron Innovation, but is also implemented in collaboration with several regional partners. In Norrbotten, Boden Business Park is financing the project for the second year in a row together with Sparbanken Nord.<\/p>\n\n

Hanna M\u00fcller, business developer at Boden Business Park, was a member of the jury.<\/p>\n\n

– Games are a creative tool for children to visualise the thoughts and ideas they have naturally, while being challenging in a fun way,” she says and continues:<\/p>\n\n

– I can’t help but be impressed by the work we saw on Monday. Their innovative solutions, creative thinking and drive gave me a strong belief in the future.<\/p>\n\n

Thomas F\u00e4german, CEO of Boden Business Park, is in favour of the Minecraft School Hackathon as it is in line with what Boden Business Park wants to achieve in Boden and Norrbotten.<\/p>\n\n
