Welcome, Grupo Fertiberia!
Jorge Requena, senior advisor at Grupo Fertiberia.

Welcome, Grupo Fertiberia!

An opportunity to reach out to strategic partners made Grupo Fertiberia choose to establish itself at Boden Business Park and the company now has a place in our coworking space.
"This is the best place to be", says Jorge Requena.

With more than 1,600 employees and 13 industrial activity centres distributed throughout the entire Iberian Peninsula and France, Grupo Fertiberia is a leader in the EU crop nutrition sector, where it develops, produces and markets innovative agronomic solutions that enhance the agricultural sector’s competitiveness and support the ecological transition of a sector that is vital to the European economy. It is also one of the world’s leading operators in the ammonia market and it produces environmental solutions for the industry and other sectors. Our commitment to safety is part of our culture. Safety is fundamental and non negotiable and it guide all of our actions and commitments.

Why did you choose to establish yourself at Boden Business Park?
"This is the best place to be to reach out to strategic partners as we are driving the development of ‘Green Wolverine’, the world’s first 100% green and emission-free ammonia and fertiliser site, in the Luleå-Boden area. Sweden, one of the few countries in the EU without fertiliser production, will become self-sufficient and one of the world’s first exporters of low carbon ammonia and crop nutrition solutions. The project will require an investment of more than 1 billion euros and could become operational by end of 2026. The site, based on electrolysis technology, will only use water and air as raw materials. It will be supplied with renewable energy from wind and hydropower sources", says Jorge Requena, senior advisor.

What are you up to?
"Fertiberia has announced its most ambitious investment plan to date aiming to reduce emissions from its industrial activity to zero before 2035 using science-based targets, and to lead the development of Europe’s green ammonia market. The production method sees the compound obtained by replacing natural gas with hydrogen coming from renewable electricity and it serves as the basis for producing crop nutrition solutions and products with a zero-carbon footprint, in addition to other environmental solutions for reducing emissions in the industry."

"Fertiberia thus becomes the first major company in the sector to commit to being carbon neutral in the next decade and it strengthens its position in the development of products with a high added value."

"The plan, known as Net Zero, is firstly based on the partnerships that GrupoFertiberia has forged with European leaders in the energy market so that its main industrial centres in Spain are part of the main consortiums involved in developing green hydrogen in the Iberian Peninsula. Outside of Spain, the company's most important green ammonia project is Green Wolverine."

"These initiatives make it possible for the company to lead the development of the market with the greatest growth and profitability in the crop nutrition sector. They also reinforce the EU’s energy sovereignty by replacing natural gas with local renewable energy sources."
